Leading Lines:
"Leading lines are lines within an image that leads the eye to another point in the image, or occasionally, out of the image. Anything with a definite line can be a leading line. Fences, bridges, even a shoreline can lead the eye. If can pair leading lines with a subject that is placed according to the rule of thirds your image should be very strong."

Frame within a frame:
Something that frames another thing within the photo.

Simplicity:
There is limited object or subjects. Little clutter and only one focus.

Rule of Thirds

What is the rule of thirds?
It is the most well known principal of photography and visual arts. It is when a picture is divided into three columns and three rows making nine small boxes. The rule of thirds allow balance to be added to a photo making sure that the main focus of the camera is in the middle and the horizon is centered etc etc. Makes you look and realize the points of interest of the photo and also makes u create interesting ways to take a picture making different balance.

How to Build a pin hole camera

1. Find all meterials needed for your camera. In our case we used an
  • empty coffee can (for the dark box.)
  • tin foil to make sure no light gets in.
  • rubber band to hold tin foil
  • a pin to make hole
  • photo paper
  • tape to hold photo paper in place.
2. We covered the coffee can with tin foil, secured it with a rubber band and covered it with the lid again.3. We then took a pin and poked a hole through the center of the coffee can making sure it got through both the lid and the tinfoil.

4. To create our shutter we folded over a piece of duct tape and stuck it so the sticky side was next to the hole making a flippable shutter.

5. Once our camera was created we were able to easily remove the lid, place in the photo paper, re close the lid, go outside, lift open the shutter and take a picture.

What are the parts of a pin-hole camera?
It starts out as a light tight box, completely dark, but to make this work there is a small hole on one side with a shutter to control what light is allowed in. There also needs to be something to record the image such as photo paper.

My veiw on Photogrophy

I got a new digital camera last Christmas. Its not the huge super zoom kind that i wish i owned but it takes really nice photos and its zoom works extremely well and takes very few blurry photos. I like taking pictures a lot, of stuff in my backyard, at get togethers with friends, and at my sisters soccer games so i understand my camera pretty well through all this experience. The main reason I really wanted this class was because i have always been very interested in Photoshop. I don't own in on my own laptop at home but I would really really love to learn how to use it correctly in this class. Im not sure about all this blog stuff and how it relates to photography but im sure we will get to the fun stuff soon!
